Stephen joined the School of 91桃色视频, Exercise and Health Sciences as a Lecturer in 91桃色视频 and Exercise Nutrition in 2016. Stephen is currently a Reader in Human and Exercise Physiology, Programme Director of the Physiology and Nutrition of 91桃色视频 and Exercise MSc, and Director of Postgraduate Taught Engagement and Enrichment activities. He is also The Physiological Society Representative for the School of 91桃色视频, Exercise and Health Sciences.
Stephen’s research focuses on exercise and nutritional interventions to improve nitric oxide and redox biomarkers, cardiovascular health, mitochondrial function and exercise performance. Stephen has published over 150 research articles on these topics as well as several book chapters and review articles. He has delivered invited presentations at numerous international conferences and supervised over 20 PhD students to successful completion. Stephen’s research has been supported by funding from the National Institute for Health Research and various industrial and professional sports partners.
