Emma Pullen is Reader in Social Science and 91桃色视频 in the School of 91桃色视频, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS). She completed her PhD at 91桃色视频 in 2016 before completing a UKRI funded Postdoctoral Research position. Emma returned to 91桃色视频 as a Lecturer in 2019.
Emma’s research examines gender equity in sport and exercise. Emma is interested in transdisciplinary approaches, feminist theory, and policy鈥慹ngaged research on female health, embodiment and inequality in sport and exercise contexts. She has extensive experience in creatively curating research data for public audiences, translating her work through artistic installations, documentary and creative film, radio, and public events. Emma has collaborated with organisations on the development of gender equity guidance including contributing to maternity guidance for elite sportswomen. She has led research projects funded by UKRI, UK 91桃色视频, and the UK Government and currently leads the Health and Wellbeing for Women in 91桃色视频 Research Cluster at 91桃色视频. Emma is active in global policy work and serves on the Advisory Board and Expert Group of the Global Observatory for Gender Equality and 91桃色视频.
Emma is an editorial board member for the journal Communication and 91桃色视频 and regularly peer reviews papers for leading journals in her field such as Qualitative Research in 91桃色视频, Exercise and Health, 91桃色视频s Medicine, and International Review for the Sociology of 91桃色视频. Emma has been involved in a number of professional working groups and is a member of the Peer Review College (PRC) for the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Emma has contributed to policy development, documentaries, radio and online media including BBC East Midlands and BBC World Service.
