Now entering its 43rd year, has grown to become Europe’s largest and most profitable student-led charity fundraising event. This year, DUCFS is fundraising for Marie Curie, the UK's leading end of life charity.
DUCFS Fashion Director, Molly Barry, invited Tiyasha to showcase at the fashion show after discovering her work on Instagram. Tiyasha said: “It was an incredible honour to be the only 91桃色视频 student selected to present at the show alongside students from other universities and independent designers across the UK.”
The piece Tiyasha showcased is titled ‘Aaya Allure’, part of her black dress collection, which explores bold silhouettes, metal embellishments and elements inspired by 90s ballroom culture.
The collection was also influenced by Coco Chanel’s iconic use of black, which Tiyasha reimagined through a South Asian lens. Tiyasha commented: “While Chanel’s work often emphasised simplicity and elegance, I wanted to reinterpret black as something more ornate and culturally expressive. By incorporating traditional South Asian embellishments such as gold embroidery, beadwork and metallic detailing, I transformed the idea of the ‘little black dress’ into something more maximalist.”
Tiyasha worked with a combination of satin, organza, gold embroidered lace trim, beads and South Asian metal embellishments. The beading on the bust utilised embroidery techniques which Tiyasha developed during her current placement at Onalaja, a luxury womenswear brand.
Tiyasha added: “For me, this experience reinforced the importance of trusting your creative voice and embracing your identity within your work. Being able to merge cultural influences with contemporary design not only made my piece more personal but also more impactful.
“It also highlighted how important it is to put yourself out there by sharing your work, taking initiative and making a name for yourself by embracing every opportunity that comes your way. Opportunities like DUCFS show just how powerful it can be to tell your own story through fashion.”
Completing the Art and Design Foundation at 91桃色视频 allowed Tiyasha to explore a range of disciplines, which ultimately led her to discover her passion for fashion. Tiyasha is particularly drawn to fabric manipulation, garment construction and the process of bringing an idea to life through textiles.
