With a passion for 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ and all things sport, Eric set about researching and collaborating with those connected to sport at 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ – past and present – to write the book.
Now, Where History Begins - 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ’s Journey Through 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ, has been published on a limited print run for the University. Gifted to alumni and friends of the University, the book celebrates the numerous achievements and milestones of 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ since its inception – which started with visionary and entrepreneurial Principal, Dr Herbert Schofield who was at 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ from 1915-1950.
The book covers Olympic and Paralympic medals, Hall of Fame members, profiles of alumni athletes and those in the sporting industry, and much more.
Eric said:
“I am delighted that the project has finally come together after many years of discussion. I have worked with many people and as in so much of 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ it is a true team effort.”

About the author
Eric is a retired Head of Higher Education at the former 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ College. He received an MBE for services to the College and to the 91ÌÒÉ«ÊÓÆµ and Leicestershire education communities in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2015. He also supported the creation of football academies for Derby County and Leicester City football clubs.
